Stretching By wayne.davidson | 21st May 2019 View this post on Instagram Stretching💪⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Why do we need to stretch? Stretching is an essential aspect of injury prevention and your general well-being (both physical and mental). It helps improve your flexibility by increasing your range of movement and helps your muscles adapt to the stretch being placed upon them and reduces muscle stiffness. The movements themselves are sufficient to increase your local circulation and increase the blood supply to that muscle. Contrary to popular belief, you should not stretch cold muscle, so holding static stretches before exercise is not the way to warm up. Instead, a dynamic warm up involving the same muscle groups that you will be using in the activity is the best way to prepare your body for what is to come. After exercise when your muscles have been nicely warmed up with the increased blood flow, is the time to stretch. All stretches should be held for approximately 30 seconds. Never bounce a stretch!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ #physio #physiotherapy #physicaltherapy #fitness #gym #rehab #fisioterapia #physiotherapist #health #rehabilitation #exercise #massage #fit #strength #physicaltherapist #workout #pain #training #personaltrainer #pilates #sport #injury #therapy #yoga #recovery A post shared by Nicki de Leon (Davidson) (@deleonphysio) on Apr 21, 2019 at 11:01am PDT Posted in Uncategorised
