Another year, another challenge and another charity!
I’ve signed up to run the Royal Parks Half Marathon on sunday 6 October 2013 for Parkinsons UK. Whilst wracking my brain for ways to raise the money without having to beg people for sponsorship, I realised that the answer was staring me in the face.
Whilst utilising my skills, yet appreciating that not everyone needs physiotherapy treatment, I am offering 30 minute sessions of either massage or pilates for only £20. Every last penny from these sessions will be going directly into my Justgiving page so I can reach my target of £500.
Don’t hang around – these sessions will unfortunately have to be limited, so first come – first served! 1 session per person but can buy multiple sessions as gifts.

There really is an ‘awareness week’ for everything these days. It makes you wonder how we all used to manage before we became so aware of everything doesn’t it?? Well, the reality is, we all get on with our busy lives, content with what we know and what is familiar, without giving new ideas and concepts much thought really.
I can’t honestly say that learning how to treat patients with acupuncture has completely revolutionised my practice but it has certainly enhanced it significantly and benefitted many of my patients over the years. I am sure that a lot of you reading this right now, didn’t even know that Physiotherapists can use acupuncture as part of their treatment or how it can even help. If that is the case, by reading this post, you now have the initial awareness of the use of acupuncture, making ‘acupuncture awareness week’ worthwhile.
Over the years of using acupuncture, I have found it most beneficial for promoting the healing and repair of soft tissue injuries, reducing muscle spasms and trigger points and for pain relief.
It isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and I have certainly converted many sceptical patients in the past who have gone on to benefit enormously.
If you are interested to see how Physiotherapeutic Acupuncture can help you, please feel free to contact me. If I have done nothing with this post, other than to raise your awareness of the uses and benefits of acupuncture, then my work here is hopefully done!
All Physiotherapists practicing in acupuncture should be members of the AACP (acupuncture association of chartered physiotherapists).
